Pinewood Derby
This weekend the kids raced their pinewood derby cars. This was our first experience building and racing these cars. It turns out, we have a lot to learn. Each car placed 4th out of 4 in each of their races. Sometimes, they even had to get a little push across the track.
They did as much work on the cars as they could, but they are really difficult crafts for kids their age. Clif did the cutting and shaping. They painted the base coats on their cars, and then I did the decorative painting. As it turned out, Miles' car won a trophy for the "Most Authentic" looking race car. It was his idea to create a "Lightning McQueen" car, and it was a big hit with the judges. Everyone that has seen Miles in the last few days has seen his trophy. He is so proud.

Congratulations to Miles and Emory. Special recognition should go to the parents. Some of your readers appreciate the role a parent plays in kids' projects.
