Expect the Best
Clifton Thurmond Named April
Clif Thurmond, band director at Lee's Summit West High School and band instructor at Longview Farm and Trailridge Elementary Schools, was named the R-7 School District Expect the Best Award winner for April. The award is presented to one employee each month who is nominated by co-workers and selected by a staff committee.Expect the Best Award winner
"Mr. Thurmond lives for his students, going the extra mile to work all summer for the band," wrote a co-worker on nomination forms. "His heart affects his job – he truly loves the kids and the music."
Editorial note: Clif got a crystal apple for his "Major Award". It is so good to see someone recognize the hard work and talent the rest of us have seen for years. I am a proud "First Lady of the Expect the Best Award Winner for April 2007". Way to go, Clif!

Way to go, Mr. Thurmond! I am so impressed. I think Expect the Best is a real honor. Good for you!
PS-Your son's haircut is so cute! Even with the black eye!
We are all so very proud of Clif. It is nice that others see the same good qualities in him that we do. Congratulations, Clif. You deserve this recognition and much more. You are a wonderful example for Emory and Miles.
